Great College Coaches

Here is my list of the top ten great coaches in men's college hoops today.

1. Coach "K" (Duke)- He is a disciple of Bobby Knight, and is as consistent as they come. Treats kids as his own.
2. Bobby Knight (Texas Tech)- He doesn't get the talent he used to, but the guy flat out knows basketball. His discipline tactics are not always the most responsible.
3. Jim Calhoun (Connecticut)- He gets the recruits, and has adapted to change.
4. Tom Izzo (Michigan State) - Maybe has the best transition game in college today.
5. Lou Henson (Arizona) - A consistent winner. Showed terrific courage during wife's illness.
6. Rick Pitino (Louisville)- A great work ethic, who has won at each college stop.
7. Jimmy Boheim (Syracuse) - 2-3 Zone man, and a great coach. He has struggled of late.
8. Roy Williams (UNC)-Finally won the big one.
9. Eddie Sutton (Oklahoma State) - Never won the big one, but his players get after you.
10. Kelvin Sampson (Oklahoma)- Never won the big one either, but I think he will within five years.

doesnt knight have the highest graduation rate ever in any ncaa sport?

Not sure, but I know he takes great pride in graduating his players. He cares about education. Donated millions to Indiana University Library, and even taught a class at IU.

You're a little confused. Lute Olson coaches Arizona.

Lou Henson has been a great coach in his own right, but not at Arizona. Poor health just caused him to retire at New Mexico State just last Saturday. He had a great career at Illinois. He retires with a 779-413 record, the sixth winningest in Division I history. Among active coaches, only Bob Knight has more victories.

i think steve alford should be on the list. he's never won a national title or big 10 title for that matter, but the man is one heck of a coach. i was hoping he would get the indiana job instead of davis.

Alford isnt that good of a coach, Tom Davis and Lute Olson both had alot more success at Iowa than Alford.

Eddie Sutton is retired.

You left out John Chaney.
